Young Researchers Committee of CACerS
YRC-CACerS
The Scientific Committee of Young Researchers of CACerS is designed as an inclusive and dynamic structure aimed at bringing together motivated doctoral candidates and early-career researchers who obtained their PhD less than three years ago, while ensuring balanced gender representation. Its primary ambition is to unite a new generation of scientists within an active network that promotes knowledge sharing, academic solidarity, and the visibility of research activities. Through its initiatives, the committee also seeks to support its members in developing transferable skills and to strengthen connections between academia, research laboratories, and industrial sectors.
The planned actions cover scientific, professional, and community-building dimensions. They include online meetings that allow young researchers to present their work, engage with external contributors from academia or entrepreneurship, and participate in practical sessions focused on key skill development. Spaces for critical discussion of recent publications or doctoral projects are encouraged to stimulate analytical thinking and enrich collective scientific culture. In addition, small-scale collaborative projects, such as joint literature reviews on emerging topics, may be launched.
The committee also places strong emphasis on networking by organizing exchanges with industry professionals, former doctoral candidates now working in companies, and recruitment specialists, with the aim of clarifying career pathways. Internal cohesion is reinforced through the creation of digital communication channels and a newsletter highlighting members and current activities.
The organizational framework relies on an international coordination team of seven members from different regions of Africa, appointed through staggered terms to ensure continuity. A coordinator, elected from among them, oversees activities, leads monthly meetings, and officially represents the committee. Ultimately, this initiative aims to build a strong, visible, and skilled community capable of improving information flow between research and society while enhancing the employability of its members.
Call for Applications - Young researchers Committee of CACerS
CACerS announces the creation of its Young Researchers Committee (YRC-CACerS) and invites PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to express their interest in joining this new body dedicated to early-career scientists.
The committee is intended to serve as a platform for dialogue, initiative, and community building for young researchers working in the fields of ceramics, composites, materials science, and related disciplines. Its aim is to stimulate scientific interactions, support the development of collective projects, and contribute to professional integration, notably by strengthening links with laboratories and the socio-economic sector.
Committee members will be involved in the implementation of a wide range of activities, including scientific meetings, research-focused exchange formats, networking initiatives, training activities, and communication tools dedicated to the CACerS young researcher community.
The YRC-CACerS members serve a four-year term that cannot be renewed. The committee operates on the basis of regular meetings and the development of an annual program of activities.
This call is open to engaged PhD students as well as recently graduated postdoctoral researchers who wish to invest in a collective approach and actively contribute to structuring the CACerS young researcher community.
